Public events scheduled in the Charles City Area

THURSDAY, OCT. 6

Charles City Public Library Night Hike will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., with Charles City High School drama students telling stories along the bike path; includes a light snack and a meet and greet; register for family time slots by calling the library at 641-257-6379.

Meet and greet with U.S. House District 2 candidate Liz Mathis (D-Hiawatha), 6 p.m. at Aromas Coffee, 312 N. Main St., Charles City.

SATURDAY, OCT. 8

Chamber Bingo Night will be presented by the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce, with early bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. and bingo starting at 7 p.m. at the Columbus Club, 502 Clark St.; cash bar and snacks available, with a food truck out front; players must be age 18 or older.


SUNDAY, OCT. 9

Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City celebrates its 50th anniversary with services beginning at 10:30 p.m., followed by a meal.

Floyd County Board of Supervisors Candidates Forum at 7 p.m. at the Charles City Senior Center, sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce; public is invited to submit questions for the forum to [email protected] prior to Oct. 12.

“Gridshock,” a movie about human trafficking in Iowa, will be shown at 2 p.m. with free admission at the Charles Theatre; presented by the North Iowa Coalition against Human Trafficking.

Charles City Senior Citizens Center Fall Festival, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Maidrites, beans, cheesy potatoes, chips, pie, bars and beverage for $10, ages 5 and under $5; silent auction of “donated treasures,” everyone welcome.
