Public events scheduled in the Charles City Area

FRIDAY, OCT. 29 to SATURDAY, OCT. 30

Rudd Haunted House presented by Rudd Community Betterment, 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.; $10 per person


SATURDAY, OCT. 30

Floyd County Law Enforcement Center Open House from 10 a.m. to noon

Rudd Trick-or-Treating will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.


SUNDAY, OCT. 31 – HALLOWEEN

Charles City Trick-or-Treating will be held 5-7 p.m.; homes wishing to participate should have their lights on.

Trunk or Treat at The Bridge Church, at 6 p.m., for a night of candy, fun, bounce houses, raffle prizes, pony rides and more; open to the entire community and beyond; 913 S. Main St., Charles City.


SUNDAY, NOV. 7

Clarksville Fire Department annual omelet breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the Clarksville school lunchroom, to benefit the department’s new radio fundraiser; made-to-order omelets, hash browns and drinks; carry-outs available; freewill donation.


SATURDAY, NOV. 20

Floyd County Museum Chautauqua Talk, “The 1968 Tornado at Oliver,” with John Culbertson; 1 p.m. at the museum;  learn about the impact of the 1968 tornado on the Charles City Oliver plant from a former plant official


FRIDAY, DEC. 3

Floyd County Museum Silent Auction, 5 to 8 p.m.; reception; proceeds go toward exterior masonry renovations; tickets $15 available at museum.


SATURDAY, DEC. 18

Floyd County Museum Chautauqua Talk, “Local History Secrets,” with Jeff Sisson; 1 p.m. at the museum; discover secrets and mysteries connected to local buildings that have been lost to time.

• Charles City Downtown Farmers Market, Blunt Street along Central Park through mid-October; 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 3:30-6 p.m. Wednesdays.

• Charles City Senior Center – Public bingo on Tuesdays with doors open at 5:30 p.m.; Congregate Meals onsite at noon, pickups at 12:10 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; reserve meals by calling 641-228-3114.
