RRMR holds first home meet with five others
Will Portis wins the
113-pound weight class title at home
In its first year of inception, the Warriors hosted the Rockford Wrestling Invitational with five other teams Saturday for a round-robin tournament.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Hudson, Newman Catholic, North Polk and West Fork were all on hand Saturday afternoon to showcase their best wrestlers in a round-robin style tournament.
The Warriors brought home an individual title in the
113-pound weight class with Will Portis, and three second place finishes as well.
Junior Austin Duryee was second place in the 145-pound class at 4-1. Remington Sliger was 4-2 and second place at 170 pounds. And Heath Farr was 4-1 in second at the
195-pound class.
Newman Catholic won the event with 250 points. RRMR placed third overall with 176 points.
RRMR wrestling will take a break until Dec. 8 when it hosts a quad at home starting at 6 p.m.
The Warriors also have a quad at West Fork on Thursday and a tournament Saturday at Nashua-Plainfield starting at
10:30 a.m.
