CCMS bands, orchestras perform spring concert

The orchestras and bands at Charles City Middle School presented “A Spring Concert” Monday night at the North Grand Building in Charles City.

The orchestras are directed by Bethany Rhine and the bands are directed by Renee Boss.

The 5th-grade orchestra performed traditional songs “Lightly Row” and “Twinkle, Twinkle,” while the 6th-grade orchestra followed with “New River Train,” arranged by Virginia Croft and “Medieval Kings” by Soon Hee Newbold.

The 5th-grade concert band performed “Court of Noble Trumpeteers” by Timothy Loest, “Dragonfire” by Paul Lavender and “Popcorn Prelude” by Mike Hannickel.

The 6th-grade concert band performed “American Spirit March” by John Higgins, “Choral Suite,” arranged by Swearingen and “Latin Fire” by John Higgins.

The Comet intermediate band performed “Colonial Spirit March” by Andrew Balent, “Star Wars” by John Williams and “Do-Re-Mi” by Richard Rodgers.

The 7th-8th-grade performed “Dance of the Tumblers” by Rinksy-Korsakoff/Dackow, “Into the West” by Shore and Lenox/Wagner, “Wayfaring Stranger” arranged by Miner and “Celtica” by Balmages.

The 7th-8th-grade concert band performed “Invincible” by Robert W. Smith, “At Peace by Matt Conaway and “Men of Ohio” by Henry Fillmore.
