Floyd man charged with sexual acts with girls

A Floyd man was arrested this week on various charges of sexual contact and sexual conduct with at least two girls.

Charles Earl Thompson, age 63, was charged last Friday with second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony, after a 9-year-old girl, interviewed at the Child Protection Center in Waterloo, alleged that Thompson penetrated her genitals with his finger in Thompson’s bedroom at his residence.

He was charged with lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony, after a 9-year-old girl allegedly said Thompson touched her genitals when they were in the toy room at his residence.

“She stated Thompson is always touching her inappropriately,” court documents state.

Thompson was also charged with two aggravated misdemeanors for allegedly touching a 9-year-old girl’s breasts over and under her clothing on at least two occasions, and a serious misdemeanor for allegedly making a 9-year-old girl watch a television channel showing a naked adult man and adult woman laying on top of each other.

“She stated she would look away and Thompson would laugh,” court records say.

A warrant was issued for Thompson’s arrest on Friday and he was taken into custody in Floyd on Monday.

He is also charged with another aggravated misdemeanor for assault with intent to commit sexual assault for allegedly grabbing the breast of a 16-year-old girl. The 16-year-old was also interviewed at the Child Protection Center, and this charge was filed Monday after Thompson had been taken into custody.

Thompson is being held in the Floyd County Jail on $40,000 cash-only bond.
