The wind, cold, rain and snow couldn’t stop the rock on Saturday.
The rock just moved inside.
The fourth annual Space Jam Music Fest at the Floyd County Fairgrounds moved inside the Floyd County Enrichment Center, due to the weather, with 14 different bands taking the stage. The show started around noon on Saturday and continued through the night.
This is the second year the music festival has been held at the fairgrounds. The all-day local show features a variety of different musical styles, and as the night progresses the music gets heavier and heavier.
The majority of the bands have local or regional roots. The event is organized by members of the band Astral Space, from Charles City.
Another band playing at the festival, Anger Incarnate, is also based in Charles City. Other bands playing at Space Jam this year were Guilty of Treason, Hardship, Phoenix Curse, Jim-Jones, Signs of Insanity, LyinHeart, Grave Corps, 404, Faces Turned Ashen, the Rush Cleveland Trio, Illusive Flavor, Dan D & the Felony and James Wood. There were also several vendors at the festival.

A few of the 190 or so canoists taking part Tuesday in the Project AWARE river cleanup on the Cedar River pose with a chunk of metal pulled from the river representing the one-millionth pound of trash pulled from Iowa rivers in the project's 22-year history. At left is sculptor David Williamson, who will work with the volunteers to create a commemorative sculpture incorporating the piece of metal. Williamson is the same artist who worked with the Charles City community to create the Revival sculpture in Victory Park, remembering the 2008 flood that destroyed the pedestrin swinging bridge over the Cedar River.
