Sen. Bernie Sanders is planning a campaign visit to Charles City on Sunday evening, according to the campaign’s website and Facebook page.

The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, but the campaign is urging people who wish to attend to RSVP with the link on the Facebook page or campaign website.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. and entrance will be on a first come, first served basis.

“Join Bernie Sanders for a Green Jobs Town Hall in Charles City on Sunday, November 10, to discuss how the Green New Deal will drive economic growth and create good-paying jobs in rural Iowa,” the Facebook listing says.

Sanders, a U.S. Senator from Vermont, is registered Independent but caucuses with the Democratic Party.

In the runup to the 2016 presidential election, Sanders fought an intense battle against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, which Clinton eventually claimed.

This election, Sanders is consistently polling among the top candidates for the nomination nationally and in Iowa in advance of the Feb. 3 Iowa Caucuses.
