The annual Festival of Trees is now underway at Otto’s Oasis in Charles City.

Thirteen Christmas trees, decorated by 13 different community organizations, are on display along the front greenhouse windows at the shop that has hosted the charity fundraiser since 2008.

People can vote for their favorite tree — and/or their favorite organization — by placing a donation in the bucket next to their favorite tree. The trees will be available for indoor viewing and voting during Otto’s Oasis regular business hours.

At the end of the event the tree that collects the most money will be declared the winner.

All the money collected will go to the respective organizations.

Dene Lundberg, an Otto’s employee, said the 13 organizations that decorated trees are: American Legion Auxiliary; Charles City Arts Center; Comprehensive Systems of Charles City Community Connections; Floyd County Child Abuse Prevention; Fossil and Prairie Conservation Foundation; Friends of the Library; Hope for Life Pregnancy Center; IC Preschool; Llost Llama 4-H Club; PAWS; St. John’s Preschool; TLC: The Learning Center; and Trinity United Methodist Church Youth.

Lundberg also said people are invited to locate a special ornament placed on a different tree each week and enter for a Festive Friday prize drawing every Friday.

The Festival of the Trees will run through Saturday, Dec. 28.
