Iphones and Beyblades and LOL dolls, oh my!

They range from heart-warming to amusing, and some of the spellings show this year’s Charles City public school second-graders are as creative as ever.

In our annual “Letters to Santa” special pages, we intercepted the Washington Elementary School second-grade class letters to Santa and copied them down before sending them on their way to the North Pole.

Many of them lead us to believe we should have invested in Apple stock and in whatever companies make Beyblades and LOL dolls, because Phones, iPads and Apple Watches were a frequent request, as were the Beyblades battling tops and accessories and the LOL dolls, pets and houses that apparently every kid in the school district knows about — and many want.

Nerf guns are still popular, as are Pokemon cards and toys.

Some kids wanted new brothers or sisters. That may be beyond Santa’s elves’ usual purview.

Kobie M. knows how to butter up Santa. “I like you more than the Easter Bunny,” Kobie said, also offering that “I like to see my family more than opening presints.”

Lilyanna P. wants a dog for Christmas, and assures Santa that getting that gift will make her Santa’s friend forever. But don’t worry. Even if she doesn’t get a dog she will still be Santa’s friend, “and I will be there for you and I will still love you too and I said I will be there.”

Jade D. would also like a dog, but then she really got rolling — she’ll also like an iPhone, an Apple Watch, makeup and 100 sextillion dresses (that’s 23 zeroes). Oh, and one last thing — magic (probably to magically create storage for 100 sextillion dresses).

Gregory W. would like a chainsaw and a hammer. We think toys, but …

Clay W. would like a PlayStation 5, but if that’s not available (it won’t be until next Christmas), a PS4 would work, too.

Kylann H. would like a fluffy cozy mermaid blanket, mermaid pjs, mermaid bedding, mermaid slippers — we sense a theme here.

A couple of kids want guinea pigs — and just to be clear — real ones!

There are also the more touching requests, for families to be together, for warm clothes and school supplies.
