A week full of activities and the introduction of a new school logo, a new vision statement and a new mission statement are part of the celebration of national Catholic School Week at Immaculate Conception School in Charles City.

National Catholic School week is an opportunity for Catholic schools to tell their stories and connect with prospective families, donors, educators and other community members, according to the National Catholic Education Association.

At IC Catholic School, the week is also a chance to show off the work that has been done to develop and refine the school’s core values.

The school has been working with Catholic School Management, a division of Christian Brothers Services of Romeoville, Illinois, to develop the new mission statement and vision statement that were revealed over the weekend, according to information from the school.

“Throughout the week of CSW our students will be introduced to each of our core values. The activities planned will reflect the core value introduced each day,” the school said.

The school’s new mission statement reads:

“IC is to be identified as a school where each child is inspired to reach their full potential by following the core values of Faith, Scholarship, Kindness, and Service.”

The school said, “There was a great deal of time, conversation and dedication that went into composing the mission and vision statements. They reflect what we know to be the values and expectations at IC School.”

In addition, the school revealed a new logo for the school and one adapted for the school’s activities using the Wildcats mascot name.
“This logo was designed to fit with what we are working on with our strategic planning team. We wanted something professional, clean, and more aligned to the logo we use for the church,” the school said.
