Charles City FFA members elected District Officers

It was a big day for the local FFA.

Charles City FFA members Gillian Anderson and Drew Staudt were elected district officers Thursday at District Officer Interviews and Review Night in Sheffield.

Anderson and Staudt made the ballot for district FFA office as district vice-president and district sentinel, respectively, and will run for office at the District FFA Convention on March 7.

Several Charles City FFA members also received Proficiency Awards. They are Blake Frascht, Diversified Ag Production, 1st place Advanced to State; Lauren Connell, Service Learning, 1st place Advanced to State; Jacob White, Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Placement, 1st Place Advanced to State; Caleb Hejna, Ag Sales Placement, 1st Place Advanced to State; Justin Heyer, Landscape Management, 2nd Place Advanced to State; Lynn Hoeft, Sheep Production, 2nd Place Advanced to State.
 Judging will take place on Feb. 22 in Ankeny.

Eleven Charles City FFA members also earned their Iowa FFA Degrees Thursday. They are Lauren Connell, Marissa Daniels, Cassie DeBower, Maxwell Deeter, Bronson Forsyth, Blake Frascht, Laurie Hart, Lynn Hoeft, Anna Krumwiede, Nathan Shultz and Jacie Wink. These members will receive their Iowa Degrees at the Iowa State FFA Leadership Conference in Ames in April.

Several members of the Charles City FFA were also in Des Moines on Jan. 28 for the Iowa FFA Legislative Symposium. The members listened to speakers and then went to the Capitol building to meet with Iowa Rep. Todd Prichard and Iowa Senator Waylon Brown and discussed how FFA and agricultural education have impacted lives.
