To The Press

Like much of the community, Floyd County Quilts of Valor (QOV) has been on hiatus due to the pandemic.

“QOV has recently begun honoring veterans again in smaller venues such as homes, garages and recreational centers,” said Adrienne O’Neill, president of the Floyd County chapter of Quilts of Valor.

“These accommodations have not dampened the spirit of the moment for attendees or honorees. We are grateful our members continued to craft quilts throughout the interruption and are willing to now schedule more, smaller presentations to honor our veterans,” O’Neill said.

“We are blessed to get to know them, family and friends and share the moment when their quilt is revealed and presented by draping them with it,” she added.

The Quilts of Valor Foundation was started in 2003 as an idea to wrap veterans with a homemade comforting and healing quilt to honor them for their “service, sacrifice and valor in serving our nation.”
