Letters to Santa accepted at Charles City Santa House, Otto’s Oasis

To The Press

Community Revitalization, the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce and Otto’s Oasis are teaming up to make sure children can get their messages to Santa Claus this holiday season — even if it is not in person.

Santa is observing extreme social distancing so he can be sure to be healthy when his big delivery day begins on Christmas Eve, so he won’t be visiting with kids at the Santa House in Central Park or at Otto’s Oasis this year.

However, they can still talk to him and share their Christmas wishes, thanks to a joint effort to accept letters to Santa and make sure he responds to the young senders.

A letter slot has been installed at the Santa House to accept Santa letters and Otto’s Oasis will also be offering a Santa Mailbox inside the store. Volunteers will see to it that Santa replies to letters left at those locations between now and Dec. 24, so it is important that each letter includes the child’s name and return address.

The Charles City Rotary Club will also help put kids in touch with Santa by phone again this year, helping route calls to the North Pole so kids can talk with Santa, his elves and Mrs. Claus. More details on this event will follow.
