Farmers market kicks off season
The high winds presented some challenges, but not enough to keep the first Charles City 2021 Downtown Farmers Market from happening at Central Park in Charles City on Saturday. Vendors offered fresh produce, home, garden and yard decor, honey, plants, baked goods and craft items, among many other things, to kick off the season. The market will run twice a week through the spring and summer, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. (Press photo James Grob.)

The high winds presented some challenges, but not enough to keep the first Charles City 2021 Downtown Farmers Market from happening at Central Park in Charles City on Saturday.

Sellers offered fresh produce, home, garden and yard decor, honey, plants, baked goods and craft items, among many other things, to kick off the season. The market will run twice a week through the spring and summer, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Venders and attendees were encouraged to follow CDC safety protocols, including wearing protective masks when necessary and staying six feet apart whenever possible. Hand sanitizer was available at each of the vendor booths for the public to utilize.

The market is administered by Main Street Charles City. Vendors interested in participating should contact the organization at 641-228-2335 or email mark@charlescitychamber.org. Daily vendor fees are $15, while seasonal fees are $75.
