A party can only get better with a little science.

Science Friday Party in the Park is coming up on July 30th. Attendees at the Central Park event will be able to experience the musical performance of the Spacemen and explore science exhibits and activities that are promised to “be a blast” for the whole family.

There will be displays and demonstrations from Floyd County Medical Center, Floyd County Farm Bureau and Floyd County Conservation, as well as some other science fun with Zoetis and Cambrex, said Joanna Thompson, Charles City events coordinator.

“Think lemon volcanoes, dry ice, and maybe even a little helium,” she said.

Only three Party in the Park nights were scheduled for this summer, and Friday, July 30, is the second opportunity to enjoy free live music, food, beer garden and activities.

This night’s event is sponsored by Cambrex, Zoetis, L&J Industries, Floyd County Farm Bureau, CUSB and Edward Jones.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

Tokens to pay for food, drinks and games may be obtained from the “Chuck Chip Table” near the center of the park, and are also available in advance at the Community Development Office at 401 N. Main Street, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year’s Chuck Chips are sponsored by the 19th Amendment Society.
