In August, Romig pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary in the second degree, a Class C felony as part of a plea agreement with the Floyd County Attorney’ Office.

On Oct. 26, District Court Judge DeDra Schroeder sentenced Romig to a term in prison up to 10 years, fully suspended; a $1,375 fine plus 15% surcharge, fully suspended; probation for five years under the supervision of the Iowa Department of Correctional Services; obtain substance abuse and mental health evaluations and promptly complete all recommendations; a no-contact order for five years; restitution; and anger management and mental health.

Schroeder also ordered Romig to reside at a residential correctional facility for 180 days “or until maximum benefits are achieved.”

The sentence was in most part what had been recommended by the county attorney’s office as part of the plea agreement.
