The Charles City Middle School Music Department presented its 2019 5th and 6th Grade Chorus Winter Concert Thursday night at North Grand Auditorium in Charles City.

The young vocalists were directed by Tara Dean, and accompaniment was provided by featured pianist Barbara Reinert.

The 5th graders opened the show with Meredith Wilson’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” followed by “Feliz Navidad” by Jose Feliciano and Mac Huff. They closed with Ruth Artman’s musical version of “The Night Before Christmas,” by Clement Clarke Moore.

The 6th graders opened up with “Winter Fantasy” by Jill Gallina, followed by “Three Men on Camelback” by Ann Ker, with some percussion provided by Zach Jensen and Ayden Bean. The 6th graders closed their set with “Dear Santa” by Jack and Jaima Kunz before the 5th and 6th grade combined chorus performed “Christmas Canon” by Johann Pachelbel and Paul O’Neil.

String accompaniment for “Christmas Cano” was provided by Libbie McKeag, Sophia Jensen and Elise White.

Once the younger students were done, the 7th and 8th graders took the stage.
