Karen K. (Hoth) Quibell

Karen K. (Hoth) Quibell, 72, of Waverly, died on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at the Waverly Health Center, Waverly.

Karen was born on March 28, 1943, in Sumner, the daughter of William F. and Ella (Sabin) Hoth. She was baptized on April 18, 1943 and confirmed on April 7, 1957 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Karen attended the Sumner school system, graduating in 1961, from the Sumner High School. On April 21, 1963, Karen was united in marriage to Jerald W. “Jerry” Quibell at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. The couple made their home in Waverly, where Karen worked at Lutheran Mutual, Waverly Café, Waverly Bowling Alley, Meyer’s Pharmacy, and Waverly Horse Sale parking cars, retiring in May of 2007 Karen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly. Karen was known by many for her famous beef burgers and chili. She enjoyed bowling, taking rides with Jerry in the truck, but what gave her the most joy was spending time with her grandson, Kyle.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Quibell of Waverly; one grandchild, Kyle Quibell of Waverly; and a sister, Marylyn (Ralph) Gordon of Eugene, Ore. Karen is also survived by other relatives. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Todd on July 25, 2014.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly, with Pastor Matthew Versemann officiating. Burial will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 22 from 4-7 p.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
