Matthew John Bohach

Funeral Services for Matthew John Bohach, 46, of Bristow will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the American Legion, 10068 Sandhill Road, Greene, Iowa, with Caitlin Tauro officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the Legion.

Matthew John Bohach was born on June 19, 1973, in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Gary and Diane (Reed) Bohach and passed away at his home in Bristow on Friday, June 21, 2019, of natural causes. He received his education in public school graduating from Greene High School in 1992. He attended North Iowa Area Community College where he graduated from the Auto Body Repair program in 1993.

Matt worked many jobs throughout his life but recently was employed for Sukup Manufacturing in Sheffield as a welder. He loved to wear bib-overalls, his cowboy boots and hat and any western wear.

He had many hobbies including Cowboy Action Shooting, drawing, writing poetry and creating craft item from horseshoes. Matt loved to cook and experiment with new recipes He looked forward to his weekly bonfires and visiting with his friends. He owned Matt’s Cowboy Creations which he operated out of his home in Bristow. Matt’s business was both local and on the internet. He was an active member of the Bristow Fire Department.

Although he was single, Matt was very much a “family” man. He enjoyed spending time with children especially Kevin, Melissa and Mattison and valued their help with his crafts. He appreciated the support Reece and McKenzie gave him and loved spending time with them. Matt was particularly close to Kurt and Mendy Knapp, John Dunlop and Amanda Karaba. He considered Harley and Marilee Knapp his second family. Matt did not always see eye to eye with his brother Russell but they loved each other very much.

Living family members include his mother Diane (Ron) Stangl, Charles City; father Gary (Joyce) Bohach, Waterloo, IA; brother Russell (Jessica) Bohach, Bristow; niece McKenzie; nephew Reece; three step-sisters: Angela Fernau, Lisban; Brenda Ingalls, Charles City; Cindy (Dan) Reinke, New Albin, IA; one step brother Josh (Brianna) Ingalls, Seattle, WA; several step-nieces and nephews; faithful canine companion ”Buddy” and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; one uncle and three aunts.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that all memorials be sent to the Bristow Fire Department.
