Alice was born on May 19, 1922 in Mitchell, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Mary “Kolar” Martykan Sr. She graduated from Mitchell High School.

She first met her future husband while she was working at the USO during World War 2 in Alabama. She later worked at the Oliver plant and the airplane factory in Omaha as a drill press operator. She was a supervisor at the egg plant in Osage.

When she came home “Butch” came knocking on her door and their love blossomed. In June 1946 she was united in marriage to Adolph “Butch” Alfred Wolff Jr. To this union two sons were born, Larry and Russell.

After taking a chance on Butch and winning, gambling became an enjoyable activity for her. She loved playing Bingo at the Charles City Senior Center and the Floyd Community Center. She was always ready to go play slots at area casinos, and made family trips to Elko, Nevada and Las Vegas along with visiting friends in California. She was very active in craft work, selling many items at craft fairs. Even though she never drove, except that one time, she kept Butch’s car so her friends could use it and take her places. She was involved in her church, willingly helping count money or bake cakes. She loved watching westerns on TV. She was such a giving, laughing and loving woman and will be missed by all who knew her.

Those surviving Alice are her son Russell and his wife Linda Wolff of Charles City and several nieces and nephews.

He parents Joseph and Mary “Kolar” Martykan Sr, husband Butch in 2000, son Larry, one sister Frances Jurasek, and brother Joe Martykan, Jr. preceded her in death.
