Dorothy Howe

Dorothy Howe, 93, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral service for Dorothy Howe will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Williams from The Bridge Church officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the start of the service on Monday at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home.

Dorothy Lucille Ludwig, the daughter of Mike and Mary (Underberg) Ludwig was born on March 30, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska. She attended schools in Breda, Iowa and graduated in 1943. She later attended beauty school. On May 10, 1950 Dorothy was united in marriage to Clyde Howe in Charles City.

Dorothy worked at 11th Street Chautauqua as a nurse aide, D & E Grocery in Ionia, and Sara Lee. She was a member of the Heritage Club and Genealogy Society. Dorothy enjoyed cross word puzzles, crocheting, playing cards, and traveling (especially spending her winters in Arizona).

Living family members include her sons: Steven (Marguerite) Howe, LeRoy (Roberta) Howe, and Paul Howe; 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde; one grandson; sisters: Julia Ricke and Esther Luchtel; and brothers: Ray Ludwig and Irwin Ludwig.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
