Kay Ann (Schwartzrock) Uetz, the daughter of Lloyd and Maxine (DeBoest) Schwartzrock, was born Feb. 23, 1942 in Charles City and received her education in the Charles City School System. During high School, Kay worked at the Charles City Creamery and continued this job part-time after her marriage.

On March 18, 1960, Kay was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Uetz in Charles City. The couple made their home in Charles City and raised their two boys: Dirk and Darien.

In 1974, Kay began working as a part-time ticket taker in the kitchen at the Charles City High School. She worked her way up to being the full-time kitchen manager, and worked there until her retirement in 2008.

Kay was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Young Mothers, Women of the Moose and the P. Buckley Moss Society. She enjoyed shopping, collecting antiques, attending auctions and adding to her ever growing collections of roosters and tree prints. Kay’s house was almost like a store itself at Christmas time due to all of the decorations and collections she proudly put on display.

Living family members include her husband of 60 years, Richard “Dick” Uetz; two sons: Dirk (Shelly) Uetz and Darien (Julie) Uetz; six grandchildren: Shana (Brian) Kellogg, Dustin (Kelsey) Uetz, Brooke (Nick) Landers, Shane (Cindy) Uetz, Breanna (Alex) Bender and Seth Uetz; nine great-grandchildren: Adric, Zoey, Ellie, Macy, Harper, Kinley, Mya, Teagen and Huxley; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda (Don) Wheat.
