Robert E. Blum

Robert E. Blum, 61, of Logan, New Mexico, passed away suddenly of natural causes on Feb. 16, 2020

Rob was born to Donald and Jeanne (Helmers) Blum on Nov. 6, 1958, in Charles City. He attended school at Nashua and Iowa State University. Rob worked in the laser industry for several years in Colorado before being recruited by Coherant Industries in Northern California where he continued his career and met his future wife, Maria Elena Recinos.

Rob and Maria were united in marriage Oct. 5, 1991. He became step-father to Maria’s son, Kenneth. Rob and Maria later welcomed a son, Lucas.

The family moved to Logan, NM in 2005, becoming business owners of the Tackle Box, selling fishing supplies and antiques. Rob also provided guided fishing trips to clients from all over the nation, making many longtime friends along the way.

Rob loved the outdoors and loved to go on hunting and fishing trip with his brothers and friends. Many a tall tale has been told!

Rob is survived by his wife, Maria, son; Luke (Logan, NM); mother Jeanne, of Charles City; brothers Steven (Laura), Nashua; James (Nancy), Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; sister-in-law Dawn Blum, West Des Moines; and step son, Kenneth Inman (San Francisco, Ca), along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Blum, brother, David Blum and his grandparents.

No service will be held per Rob’s request. Memorial ashes will be scattered in Colorado at his favorite elk camp, California near his turkey hunting spot, and buried in Riverside Cemetery Rockford, Iowa with generations of relatives that have preceded him to the great hunting grounds and fishing holes beyond.
