Jerry Peters, age 70, of Floyd, IA died Monday, June 29, 2020, at his home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton are entrusted with arrangements. 641-394-4334

Jerry Edwin Peters peacefully parted with us at age 70 on June 29, 2020, in his home. The son of the late Edwin Peters and Clara Freerksen was born at 11:55 p.m. on Feb. 22, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa.

Jerry graduated from Mason City High School in 1968. In 1980 he opened a business in his residence of Floyd, Iowa. After retiring from Peter’s Garage in 2005, he went on to operate vehicles for Bruening Rock Products Inc. Jerry had a love for riding motorcycles that he shared with many of his friends and family. Operating Peter’s Garage with his son and riding his bike were two of his most treasured pastimes.

Memories with Jerry will be cherished by all that loved him. There was never a dull moment when he entered a room; there was never an encounter with Jerry where a laugh wasn’t shared. He was very involved in his son and grandchildren’s lives as well as the friends he made throughout his lifetime. He was a very caring and genuine person and it never went unnoticed.

Jerry is survived by his best friend; Shirley Slowinski, son; Joseph Peters, daughter-in-law; Brooke Peters, two grandchildren; Jadelyn and Quentin Peters, a sister; Jean Nelson, and brother-in-law; Jerry Nelson. He is lived on by nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends. The memories shared with Jerry will be remembered for a lifetime.

By Jerry’s request, there will be no funeral. However, there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
