Carol Mae (Koebrick) Chestek, the daughter of William and Lenora (Hoeft) Koebrick, was born Nov. 24, 1925 in Bassett, Iowa. She attended school in Bassett until her family moved to a farm south of New Haven. Carol graduated from Charles City High School in 1943.

On Nov. 24, 1943, Carol was united in marriage to Bud E. Chestek at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. They were both blessed with one daughter, Joan. Carol was a hard worker who loved farming and was a true farmer at heart. During their farming life they milked, raised feeder cattle and were grain farmers. Although she also worked in the fields right along the side of the others, she always had lunch ready for everyone when it was time to eat. After retiring from farming, Carol and Bud moved to an acreage east of Charles City. She enjoyed their winter trips to Florida, especially when her family would come down and spend time with them.

Carol was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Women of the Moose. Along with her love of the farm, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended every event they were involved in with great pride.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Joan (Tom) Daiker; granddaughters: Tami (Paul) Halverson and Amy Daiker; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Matthew and Alaina Halverson and Beau and Emersen Werger; sister, Gladys Kellogg; brother, Russ (Sue) Koebrick; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud in 2003; parents, William and Lenora Koebrick; sisters: Annabelle Grimm and Wilma Handt; and brother, Wesley Koebrick.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the 11th Street Chautauqua staff for their excellent care and for treating Carol like their grandma too.

Memorials may be directed to Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church or MercyOne Hospice.
