Stephen Kimball Sargent, the son of Paul and Natalia (Kimball) Sargent, was born on Sept. 7, 1931 in Charles City, Iowa. He graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1950.

Steve proudly served in the United States Army from February 1951 to February 1954 until his honorable discharge.  While in the Army, Steve earned many medals for his service.

Steve met Faye Starbuck in 1950, and the couple was united in marriage on June 6, 1954. This union was blessed with four children: Leslie, Susan, Ron and Curt.

Steve enjoyed his children immensely. His boys and daughter Susan learned a lot of trapping, hunting and fishing skills (he loved deer hunting with all four of his children), and Susan raised sheep with her dad and helped him with a lot of the farming on the small farm (the other children helped on the farm too). He always lit up with a smile when he knew Susan was coming home for a visit.  In later years, Steve loved his quality time spent with all of his grandchildren (grand, great and great-great).

Hunting and fishing were Steve’s passion, but he also liked listening to country music. He worked for Floyd County Conservation for many years and was a true conservationist who cared about all wildlife and what happened to them. This was one of the reasons the small farm was so important to him.

Living family members include his wife, Faye; four children:  Leslie (Mary) Sargent, Susan (Robert) Young, Ron (Teresa) Sargent and Curt (Terrie) Sargent; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren (with one on the way).

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
