Sara Hemann

Sara Hemann, 53, of Cedar Falls, formerly Charles City, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 at Unity Point Health Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating and will be live streamed on the church’s Facebook page. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd. Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines followed.

Visitation will be at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 and will continue one hour before the funeral Mass at the church on Friday. Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines followed.

Sara Jean (Stewart) Hemann, the daughter of Donald and Elayne (Anderson) Stewart, was born Dec. 22, 1967 in Charles City, Iowa. She received her education in Charles City, graduated from Charles City High School in 1986 and then attended NIACC in Mason City.

Sara was united in marriage to Kevin Hemann on May 21, 1994 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The couple made their home in Mason City where they were both employed at Rockwell International. Less than a year after their son Tony was born, they moved to Charles City in July 1996. Another son, Ryan, was born in 1998 and Sara stayed at home with the two boys and her niece, Rachel and nephew, Jordan. In the early 2000’s, she began working for the Charles City School System and continued until she and Kevin moved to Cedar Falls in 2018. Sara most recently worked for the Cedar Falls School System as a Preschool teacher.

Sara was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church while living in Charles City where she was active in the St. Teresa Circle and volunteered time at the gift shop. She was most recently a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls.

Sara enjoyed raising her three Sheltie dogs (Princer, Buster and Brownie), cooking and baking. She especially loved spending time with her family, in particular her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Living family members include her husband, Kevin of Cedar Falls; two sons: Tony (Kimberly) Hemann of Cedar Falls and Ryan Hemann (Joy Marcum) of Waterloo; two step-sons: Luke (Lisa) Hemann of Dubuque and Jake (Jennifer) Hemann of New Haven; seven grandchildren: Collin, James, Alex, Jace, Tyler, Matthew and Adam; three siblings: Teresa (Doug) Pierce of Floyd, Rodney (Sue) Stewart of Charles City and twin sister, Sally (Clarence) Marvin of Charles City; mother-in-law, Darlene Hemann; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Elayne Stewart and her father-in-law, Art Hemann.
