Calvin was born on Jan. 13, 1956 to Charles and Darlene Hopper. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1974. He later married and to this union two sons were born Eric and Adam.

Calvin worked construction, with a bridge crew for many years until he was hired on with the Floyd County Roads Department and remained there until his retirement in June of 2020.

Calvin enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Among many of his hobbies he enjoyed building wooden toys for his grandchildren and friends. He also loved restoring anything that had an engine and wheels, from John Deere garden tractors, vintage dirt bikes, corvettes and old pickup trucks. He was very talented with carpentry, welding and making many metal projects. He would often get his own drawings and specifications and build his own metal parts if they were unavailable or were way too expensive. Calvin was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He would attend home football games and wrestling meets whenever he had the chance.

Calvin was very creative and generous with his talents and skills.  If someone needed help he would offer his time and rarely would accept anything in return, but only asked you to pay it forward when you could.

Calvin is survived by his mother, Darlene; brothers Curtis (Laura), Clark (Barbara), Conrad (Jane), sister Charlene (Craig) Rosen. Children, Eric (Pam) of Rockford and Adam (Laci) of Ionia; and his beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, along with his special and close friends Doug Franke and LeRoy Michael.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; grandparents Lloyd & Lola Hopper and George & Mildred Peachee.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please pay it forward in any way you can as Calvin did.
