Letter to the Editor: Thanks for help on Fall Festival

By the Senior Center Board, Charles City

Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make our 15th annual Senior Citizens’ Fall Festival such a success.

Whether you made and/or donated food, gave your time and/or money, whether you came to eat and support the cause, you made it all happen. Special kudos to those who made pies— 21 of them, and bars and ice cream, also. We heard that no one went home hungry.

A special feature silent auction of treasures that people brought in (items not used or wanted anymore) was very popular. Lots of people had fun and got good deals! Silent auction proceeds alone will take care of the utilities for more than one month this cold winter. Thank you to all!

A lot is happening at the Senior Center these days including noon meals Mondays through Fridays. Also people are playing lots of pool, cards (500, Hand and Foot, and bridge), many interesting programs and music for everyone.

People are reminded that one doesn’t have to be a member of the Charles City Senior Citizens to eat there, but that the $10 membership has perks such as renting the building for $65 rather than $75 for 5 hours, free rolls and coffee some Saturday morning this winter, and the free Christmas program held this year from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 14.

Come see us at the Senior Center
