Molstead medalist in Comets’ golf win over Green Devils

OSAGE — Charles City senior Jackson Molstead shot a season-low 9-hole score of 38 while leading the Comet boys golf team to a season-low 9-hole team score of 166, which was 16 strokes better than Osage during Tuesday’s dual at Sunny Brae.

Comet freshman Travis White, who was an 18-hole medalist on Monday during Charles City’s win over Crestwood, posted a runner-up score of 39.

Carter Johanningmeir had a 44, and Tait Arndt carded a 45 for the marked scores from Charles City.

Shawn Eichmeier and Zach Duren each scored 43s for the Green Devils.

Charles City also won the junior varsity match (213-216) with Hunter Sullivan leading the way with a 48.
* Charles City’s girls squad also squared off against Osage at Sunny Brae.

Comet sophomores Hope Slinger and Sarah Mitchell carded respective scores of 55 and 58 to lead the varsity squad, but behind Sidney Brandau’s medalist score of 52, the Green Devils won, 220-236.
