CHARLES CITY — Led by Heather Viers’s personal-best two-game series score of 425, the Charles City varsity girls bowling team rolled a season-best 2,646 two-round score while defeating North Iowa by more than 600 pins, Friday at Comet Bowl.

Also scoring for the Comet girls were Sarah Mitchell (367), Imagin McHenry (333), Joslyn Cotton (320) and Sofia Nelson (303).

The Comet boys also won big over the Bison (3,041-2,087).

Cade Schmidt, one of several Charles City bowlers honored during “Senior Night”, led all “varsity” bowlers with a two-game 444 total followed by Cael Bohlen (439), Noah Reams (432) Nathan Shultz (431) and Koyer Kellogg (393).

In junior varsity play, Comet senior Max Deeter rolled a career-best 444 series matching Schmidt.

Due to North Iowa not having enough bowlers to field a junior varsity “Baker Round” team, the Comet jayvee boys bowled an extra individual game. And that’s where Tyrell Baglan continued his hot street after bowling his first 200 game on the nose and then following up with 211 and 215 scores.

Jackson Cook also rolled his first 200 game (205) while bowling junior varsity for the Comets.
