Go-Hawks top Comets in 18-hole dual ahead of postseason play

CHARLES CITY — Several days removed from shooting for medalist honors at the Hampton-Dumont Bulldog Invitational, Charles City junior Trevor White shot a personal season-low 18-hole score of 79 during Monday’s dual against Waverly-Shell Rock at Cedar Ridge Golf Course.

As low as that score was, Go-Hawk junior Brady Hogan — among the top scorers in the state this season — was six shots better with a 3-over 73 for medalist honors.

Cole Hotz and Noah Frazell both shot 79s, and Derek Brandt carded an 80 as the Go-Hawks shot an impressive 311 as a team.

Jaxon Houdek shot an 87 which was an 18-hole prep low for him, Hunter Sullivan carded a 93 and Calvin Hanson shot a 101 to round out the Comets’ team score at 360.

The Comets will compete in the Class 3A Sectional Tournament at Pine Oaks Links in Manchester on Friday (May 14) starting at 10 a.m.. Teams and individuals advancing will play in the Class 3A District Meet at Waverly Municipal Golf Course on Manchester on May 21 starting at 10 a.m.

In between those meets is the Northeast Iowa Conference Boys Golf Meet at Waverly Municipal Golf Golf on Monday (May 17) starting at 10 a.m.
