Beginning today (Friday) Floyd County Public Health will be partnering with the Iowa Department of Public Health and the State Hygienic Laboratory to be a Test Iowa pick-up site.

Anyone can stop by the Floyd County Public Health Office to receive a free COVID-19 test kit that will allow collecting a saliva sample at home, returning the sample by UPS, and then receiving results by email.

Each kit will include step-by-step instructions, including how to activate the test kit, collect the sample, return the sample to the state lab, and when to expect results.

Floyd County Public Health is requesting that people do not come into the office to pick up the free test kits, but instead call upon arrival at the office and a Public Health staff member will bring a kit out to your vehicle.

The number to call is 641-257-6147. Pick-up hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Also on Friday, people attending the Floyd County Fair will be able to receive a free COVID-19 vaccination. Vaccinations were also offered Thursday.

“We will have Johnson & Johnson and Moderna COVID vaccine available,” Public Health announced. Nursing staff will be located by the Emergency Management trailer to administer the vaccine, and Floyd County Public Health signs will be posted.

For more information call Floyd County Public Health at 641-257-6111.
