It’s been a banner year, so far, for snow and snowmobiling enthusiasts, but some residents in Marble Rock are not so enthusiastic about the noise those snowmobiles are making.
The Marble Rock City Council on Monday heard from upset citizens regarding snowmobiles disturbing them in the early morning hours. The city’s ordinance reads, in part, that it “…shall be unlawful to operate a snowmobile so as to create unusual noise” and “…no operating a snowmobile between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.”
A reminder of this ordinance will be published in the Marble Rock Journal.
Mayor Doug Merfeld reported the lagoon project is nearly finished and he continues to work with the county engineer on culverts and is staying on top of inspection of the dam for possible flood damage.
Councilman Max Handley noted that the estimated total for the River Street Bridge Project is $300,000 not the $600,000 previously reported. The City of Marble Rock will be responsible for 20 percent of the total cost of repair to the River Street Bridge.
City Clerk Sandra Winters noted that the general fund is now $19,483.63 in the red.
In other business council:
• Approved a resolution adopting an Identity Theft Prevention Program
• Approved resolutions for lease of school building rooms at $25 per room
• Tabled until the February meeting TIF project selection
The next scheduled meeting of the Marble Rock City Council will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2.
