Ronald ‘Ron’ F. Turner

Ronald “Ron” F. Turner, 67, of Charles City, died early Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at the Floyd County Medical Center due to complications from surgery after a sudden brief illness.
 
Funeral services for Ron Turner will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Jim Beranek will officiate. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City at a later date.  
     
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday.

Beverly ‘Bev’ LaVerne Slinger

Marble Rock — Funeral Services for Beverly LaVerne Slinger, 80, of Marble Rock will be 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at the Walter F. Bohl Community Center in Marble Rock. A visitation will precede the service starting at 2 p.m.
 
Pastor Joe Prainito will officiate. A private burial will take place at a later date. Bev was cremated at her request.
 

J. Patrick ‘Pat’ McDonnell

J. Patrick “Pat” McDonnell, R.Ph., 71, of Charles City, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at his winter home in Chandler, Ariz.
 
A funeral Mass for Pat McDonnell will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Gary Mayer, The Rev. Bernie Grady and The Rev. Tom Braak will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.
 

Eugene ‘Gene’ Krieger

Eugene “Gene” Krieger, 86, of Charles City, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City with all of his family at his side. He recently suffered a fall and had a long and brave struggle with COPD and lung cancer. 
 
A funeral Mass for Gene Krieger will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Gary Mayer will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.
 

William Maxwell Taylor

William Maxwell Taylor, of Waverly, peacefully transitioned to a more glorious place on Oct. 31, 2014. William, or “Bill” was born on Nov. 7, 1943 in Rockford, Ill., son of Dr. Wendel William Taylor and Helen Cadwallader Taylor. He grew up in Sheffield and graduated from high school there in 1962. Bill then attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Fall and received his bachelor’s in 1966, followed by a graduate degree in physical therapy from the University of Iowa in Iowa City in 1968.
 

Julia Weydert

Julia Weydert, 62, of Charles City, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
 
Funeral services for Julia Weydert will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.
 
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
 

Lee Stewart

Lee Stewart, 89, of Charles City, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
 
Funeral services for Lee Stewart will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 10, at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Pastor Martha Bennett will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday.
 

Carol Gabel

Carol Gavel, 72, of Liverpool passed away on Nov. 4, 2014. Carol was born on March 26, 1942 in Whiteside County, Illinois to parents Elmer and Forence (Reynolds) Schipper. Carol Married John Gabel on July 9, 1972 at Faith Bible Chapel in Charles City. They moved from Iowa to Texas to be near their son and his family. Carol enjoyed the time that she spent with her family and friends.
