Clair Clay, Jr., 64, of Charles City, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for Clair Clay will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Patty Kellogg will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 3-6 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday an hour prior to the service.
Clair Eugene Clay, Jr., was born Sept. 10, 1944, in Charles City, the son of Clair and Doris (Stillions) Clay, Sr. He graduated from  Charles City High School in 1963. Clair proudly served in the United States Marines. On May 26, 1967, he married Sharen White. They later divorced. Clair was proprietor of Clair Clay’s Tree Service for over 50 years. He attended the Christian Fellowship in Mason City. His interests included fishing, hunting and traveling with his daughter Penny. Clair will be remembered for his love of nature and his life long passion for the care of trees.
Living family members include two children, David (Annette) Clay of Garner and Sheryl (Justin) Pratt of Rochester, Wash.; six grandchildren, Shaelynn, Taylor and Gage Pratt and Shelby, Jared and Tyler Clay; four brothers, Roger (Pam) Clay of Little Rock, Wash., Steven (Linda) Clay of Charles City, David (Sharon) Clay of Floyd and Ron (Sally) Clay of Charles City; five sisters, Marrian Linde of Charles City, JoAnn Bailey of Sun Valley, Nev., Kathy (Tom) White of Nevada, Mo., Edna (Robert) White of Floyd and Patricia (Bill) Kellogg of Charles City.
Special thanks would like to be given to all the family members and friends that have supported Clair and his family, especially George Herman, Ron Ferch, Joe Hagarty, and Dr. Timothy McKone of the Radiology Department at Mercy Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Penny Thomas; and a brother, Greg Clay.
