Sharon “Jan” Ploeger, 66, of Charles City, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Cedar Health in Charles City.
Funeral services for Jan Ploeger will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church. Associate Pastor Jim Dunston will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the service.
Sharon Janice Osterman Ploeger was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Charles City, the daughter of Herman and Dorothy (Woods) Osterman. She graduated from the Charles City High School in 1961. On March 16, 1968, she was united in marriage to Sherron Ploeger at Floyd. Jan was service manager of Sears in Charles City for six years and administrator at Sunrise Guest Home in Fredericksburg for 35 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she was always very involved with the various activities of the church. Jan was also a 4-H leader for 15 years, a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Friends of the Y. Her interests included crafts, sewing, collecting, shopping, traveling, gardening, camping, fishing and working with genealogy. Time spent with her family was always very important and she looked forward to spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Living family members include her husband, Sherron Ploeger of Charles City; three children, Sherri (Scott) Niles of Waverly, Shawn (Stephanie) Ploeger of Des Moines and Shelli (Bill) Cagley of Ionia; six grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah and Stacey Niles, Nicholas and Nathan Cagley, and Joshua Ploeger; her mother, Dorothy Osterman of Charles City; a brother, Jack (Andi) Osterman of Lawrence, Kans.; and two sisters, Sue (Charles) Allen of Rockford and Terry (Mark) Wenthe of Altonna.
She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, Larry Osterman.
