ROCKFORD — Donald H. Jones, 94, of Rockford, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at the Nora Springs Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church at 21 3rd Street in Rockford with Pastor Judy Wooton officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7 at Fullerton Funeral Home at 302 W. Main in Rockford. Donald was born in Rockford on May 31, 1914, the son of Hal and Nellie (Blake) Jones. He lived his entire life in Rockford. He was united in marriage to Virginia Hansen on Jan. 12, 1939, in Nashua. He raised cattle on his farm, drove a truck for Rockford Shipping Association, and was a custodian at the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock High School. Donald was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors. He enjoyed working with his cattle, playing cards and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Virginia of Rockford; children, Conni (Larry) Shanks of Spring Branch, Texas and Wendy (Randy) Demaray of Nora Springs; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Marjorie Hansen, Roberta Hansen and Georgia Johnson; and brother-in-law Donald Johnson.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth DeSart; brothers, Robert and Lloyd Jones; sister-in-law, Lucille Jones; and brothers-in-law, Robert Hansen and Roger Hansen.
