Alma A. Angell, age 105, of Osage, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Alma was born Dec. 1, 1903, near Osage, the daughter of Bryon and Mabel (McLean) Loney. She married Merlyn W. Angell on Aug. 23, 1925, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed near Osage until 1961, and then lived in Osage.
Merlyn died in 1989. Alma taught for several years in area country schools. She was the sixth person nationally to sign up as an Amway distributor. Alma was a member of the United Church of Christ in Osage. She greatly enjoyed her family.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at the United Church of Christ in Osage, with Pastor Ruth Moerdyk officiating. Inurnment will be at the Osage Cemetery. There will be a time for lunch and fellowship following the service at the church.
Alma is survived by three sons, Mervel “Duke” (Neva) Angell of Osage, Glen (Helen) Angell of New Hampton, Keith (Carmen) Angell of Charles City; 16 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merlyn W. Angell; a granddaughter, Laurie Angell; and a great-grandson, Stephen Travis Folkers.
