Vera Lack, age 75, of Orchard, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at her home. Vera was born Jan. 11, 1933, at Colwell, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lulu (Rose) Venz. Vera graduated from Colwell High School. She was employed at and retired from the Mitchell County Hospital.
She was a member of the Osage V.F.W. Auxiliary. Vera embraced life fully, enjoying all types of outdoor activities, including farming, raising cattle, hunting, fishing, and trapping. She also enjoyed gardening.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Orchard, with Pastor Jan Tjaden officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and will continue one hour before services at the church.
Vera is survived by a son, Greg (Melissa “Boo”) Weydert of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Katherine Todd of Roswell, Georgia; two granddaughters, Amber and Whitney Weydert; a sister, Daisy Wisher of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Lack on Sept. 14, 2001; a son, Russell in 1966; and many brothers and sisters.
