Roofing installation began on Wednesday for McQuillen Place amid high winds, but work is expected to be finished by the end of the week, developer Charley Thomson said.

The architects delayed roof work on the building from the initial deadline of Jan. 1 until temperatures rose in the area. Clark Street, which was partially closed to store construction materials, also delayed its original reopening longer than project managers had hoped, Thomson said.

“I continue to be amazed and very thankful of how supportive everybody in town has been. We know we’ve inconvenienced people with Clark Street, and by and large, people have been very understanding,” Thomson told the Press during a building tour. “It went longer than we had hoped  –– we had hoped it’d be shorter –– but now it’s done, and we’re all very happy it was done.”

Residential apartments will begin opening to occupants this summer, developer Charley Thomson said. Thomson anticipates releasing more information on the retail businesses by the Independence Day parade in July.

  • Crews continue mapping out residential apartments, framing the bay windows that overlook Main Street.

  • Construction crews stow gear in the arcade crossway as they continue third-floor framing in the apartments. Nearly all apartments have been framed, and crews are beginning to mark out interior rooms in the residences.

  • Thomson stands beneath an open skylight in the third floor hallway. Most skylights are currently covered for construction safety, but the crew uses this one to access construction on the roof.
