Harrison Sheckler to perform hometown concert Dec. 14

Charles City native and classical pianist Harrison Sheckler will perform in recital at the First Congregational Church, 502 N. Jackson, Charles City on Dec. 14, 2017 at 7 pm.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Sheckler is currently majoring in piano performance at the College of Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati.

Sheckler has studied piano for 17 years garnering many honors such as: third Place Champion, Bill Riley Talent Show 2017 (also Sprout Champion winner in 2009); Skokie Valley Concerto finalist, 2017; Senior Duet Piano winner and Senior Piano Solo State alternate 2014 Music Teachers National Association; Terrace Hill Senior Piano Competition and First Lady of Iowa’s scholarship winner 2014; Charles City Master of Fine Arts Award 2014.

He has also been a consistent winner in  regional MTNA events including Las Vegas and California; and, a member of many honor orchestras – both piano and violin.

Sheckler has been a frequent accompanist for choirs, orchestras, symphonies, and for opera singer Simon Estes; and has also been a piano instructor.

The program will include classical works from Chopin, Copeland, Beethoven among others.

The concert is free but cash donations are welcome, all to be donated to the Messiah Food Bank.

First Congregational Church will serve refreshments after the concert.
