Merger with Trelleborg offers opportunities, CC Mitas plant leader tells CCADC Board

Charvat: Don’t expect immediate changes to main structure

While nobody can guarantee the timeframe of decisions in the next few months, the merger of Mitas North America’s parent company, ČGS Holding, and the Swedish polymer solutions company Trelleborg could be a good chance for development on both sides, Mitas North America President Pavel Charvat told the Charles City Area Development Corporation on Wednesday.

“Our estimation is a deal will be concluded in April or May,” Charvat said. “We do not expect any changes in the main structure for the next 12 months.” “My feeling is that there is a very good chance, a very good space for Charles City to take part in the future structure, just based on what we’ve already achieved,” he said.

The Charles City plant has been awarded Best Supplier by John Deere, among several other company recognitions.

Out of 20 applicants for the CCADC’s Furnace Replacement Program, only three have been denied, Executive Director Tim Fox told the board. Applications are being processed, and the program has already replaced one household furnace Tuesday after the home’s previous furnace caught on fire. Charles City is the newly certified Connect Iowa community in Floyd County.

The program, in partnership with the Iowa Economic Development Authority, aims to increase high-speed Internet access and usage across the state.

The CCADC recognized board member Sarah George with a Lifetime Achievement award, for her dedication to the organization.
