Alene R. Lundberg

Alene R. Lundberg, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at the Western Home Communities Nation Cottage.

She was born March 11, 1926 in Waterloo, the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (McKeen) Zimmerman. Alene married Alvin R. Lundberg on March 7, 1953 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2010. Alene graduated from Hudson High School in 1943 and Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in 1947. She was a teacher for thirty years including the school districts of Dayton, Cedar Valley of Summers, Rockwell City, Burnside and Hudson. Alene was a member of the Maple Grove Ladies Aide, United Methodist Women of Hudson, and the Tri-T Sorority of Hudson.

Alene is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Greg) Nook of Parkville, Mo. and Jane (Paul) Clowser of Waukee; three sons, Kirk (Pennie) Lundberg of Hudson, James (Dené) Lundberg of Floyd, Iowa and Steven (Denise) Lundberg of Readlyn; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Schlicht, of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at Hudson United Methodist Church, with inurnment at Hudson Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and one hour before service at the church.
