The North Grand building and financing/design options for the Charles City High School are on the tentative agenda for the Charles City Board of Education’s special session at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19.

The Board of Education will meet in the high school library. A 30-minute social will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Sen. Waylon Brown, R-St. Ansgar, and Rep. Todd Prichard, D-Charles City.

Board members will consider the district’s options regarding the use of the North Grand building at 500 North Grand Avenue, after Charles Thomson did not exercise his option to purchase the building by the Dec. 12 deadline.

Thomson is the managing member for North Grand Building LLC, which was granted the option to purchase the building for $1 in June.

Board members will also receive a Phase II design presentation by Jean Underwood of BLDD Architects, which has been working on a concept design for renovating the Charles City High School; and hear from Matt Gillaspie of Piper Jaffray, regarding financing options for the Phase II project.

Public comments will be taken at the start of each agenda item, and are limited to two minutes per speaker. The public may also make comments on items not on the night’s agenda at the start of the meeting.
