Charles City Library Director Kim Jones has been out ill for over a month. To show her how much they care, the library staff and library patrons have started a card shower for her.

“She was seriously ill, but we are glad to say we are hopeful she is now on the road to recovery,” according to the Library’s Facebook page.

Stacy Campbell is filling in as interim library director while Jones is out.

The card shower is for “well wishes” for Jones, who has been on medical leave since February, Campbell said.

“(She) is getting better, finally, we can say that,” Campbell said. “Our patrons have been asking (about) Kim and we wanted to do something.”

There is a pink tin bucket near the microfilm where well-wishers can drop off cards for Jones.

Anybody who wishes to drop off a card can, Campbell said. Cards can also be mailed to the library and will be added to the bucket.

The card shower started Monday.

“It’ll be here until April 1,” Campbell said. “I’ll make sure that it gets to her husband, Larry.”

There are donated cards people can fill out next to the bucket, but the library is running out of those cards quickly.
