Charles city business chosen for statewide SBDC award

A Charles City business has been chosen for a monthly statewide honor.

Mara Bridal & Special Occasion Boutique is the winner of the America’s SBDC Iowa statewide Business of the Month Award.

Mara Bridal & Special Occasion Boutique opened in November 2017 and is owned by Tiffany Rottinghaus. The store offers gowns and formal wear for events such as weddings, prom and holidays.

The business’s goal is to provide sensibly priced special occasion apparel with “big city style and selection and small town charm and service,” according to a statement from America’s SBDC Iowa

As of February, Mara has grown to include two full-time employees and three part-time employees.

“Mara’s dedication to providing a unique shopping experience is evident through the elegant atmosphere and thoughtfully chosen merchandise,” America’s SBDC Iowa said.

The company has also received encouragement and connections through its work with Brook Boehmler, regional director of the North Iowa Area Small Business Development Center and the Pappajohn Center.
