Mustaches or not, contestants run (and walk) to raise assault awareness

The Fourth Annual Sexual Assault Awareness 5K “You Must Ask” Dash — or “Mustache Dash,” as it is referred to, was held Saturday morning at the Riverfront Park Boat Ramp on Riverside Drive in Charles City.
Citizens were encouraged to “get their mustaches on” and walk/run in the family-friendly event designed to encourage community conversations about sexual assault and prevention.
The event was sponsored by the Floyd County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), which is made up of members from the Charles City Police Department, the Floyd County Sheriff, the Crisis Intervention Service, the Floyd County Attorney and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.
Medals for first, second and third place for women, men and youth were awarded.
Winners for the men were Kellen Smith, first place; Nicholas Roney second place; Jessie Decker, third place.
Winners for the women were Katelyn Decker, first place; Cynthia Cmelik-Reams second place; Camille Dayrit, third place.
Youth winners were Elizabeth Olson, first place; Emma Roney, second place; Morgan Haus, third place.
