Weed it and reap

The Lions Club Rose Garden was in need of some tender loving care on Wednesday, so Lion’s Club members Dick Herbrechtsmeyer (in the hat) and Dave Ripley put some time and sweat in to spruce the place up. The garden, located at Riverside Drive and Main Street, was fashioned in 1971 as a community beautification project after the tornado of 1968. The garden contains a brick walkway, more than 150 roses, a pergola, limestone benches and signs. The different variety of roses are identified so visitors to the garden can learn more about the species and know exactly what they’re looking at.
