The Northeast Iowa Regional Board of Realtors donated $500 Tuesday to the Charles City Police Department to be used toward the purchase of body video cameras to be worn by officers.

“This is invaluable to us,” said Chief Hugh Anderson.

He said body cams and dashboard cams have become an important tool in police work to provide a visual and audio record of things that officers observe and interactions that they have with people.

This is the second grant for cameras received from the Board of Realtors, and Anderson credited the efforts of Ann Kabele of Stewart Realty in applying for the grants.
